Ed Gibbs Sr.
Ed Gibbs Sr. passed away on Oct. 17, 2013, in his 84th year, at the Trillium Mississauga Hospital.
He was the founder of Gib-San Pools of Toronto, and a strong contributor to the swimming pool industry for over 50 years. His company rose to prominence in the Canadian aquatic leisure industry as a member of both the Master Pools Guild and the Pool and Hot Tub Council of Canada. He served as president of the OSPA in 1968 and of CANSPA in 1982.
Well-known within the industry, Ed Gibbs, Sr. was and highly respected amongst his peers. He was a long-time member of Weston Golf and Country Club. Family members have many memories of the many wonderful years on Georgian Bay.
He was a loving husband of 63 years to Maureen (nee Connolly), wonderful father to Gerry (Flo), Cathy (Dale), Dan (Lancy), Chris (Nancy), Patricia (Albert), Joe (Katherine), and Edward (Colleen). Grampa will be dearly missed by his 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
The funeral mass was held at All Saints Church in Toronto on Oct. 22. A private interment followed at St Michael’s Cemetery in Orillia the following day.
