The Toronto Seed Orchard has organized weekly seed harvesting sessions throughout the fall, culminating in a seed processing workshop and capped off with a harvest dinner. The link below has information on location, what to bring and sign up sheet. If you looking for a few hours of quality time with plants and away from the computer you can't do much better than this. This year the first crop of seeds were grown into plugs and sold at Toronto Seed Orchard. Some seed were made available to growers like Claremont Native Plants and Urban Harvest. Others were grown for use in commercial and residential projects, including a meadow planting to be completed this fall.
If you have projects that require native species, check out the link of 42 species producing seed. All seeds are available for public, private, non-profit and indigenous projects as long as you provide the name of your grower and/or the location of the project.
